As any marketeer would tell you, profile information can be pure gold if managed well. Unfortunately, data management is one of the most under-rated and under-resourced areas in hospitality. Due to the nature of the external channels (particularly GDS), the majority of guest profiles are incomplete, duplicated or incorrect for the average hotel chain.
By actively managing guest profiles, marketing departments can analyse and target guest mailings (email/new media or traditional "snail mail") to maximise revenues at reasonable cost.
